Nizozot | Bastarda Trio
26.06.2024 - 20:00 / Museum of Engineering and Technology, ul. św. Wawrzyńca 15The band was established in 2017 by Paweł Szamburski (clarinet), Tomasz Pokrzywiński (cello) and Michał Górczyński (contrabass clarinet). This one-of-a-kind set of instruments allowed the musicians to create the band’s unique sound, which became a determinant of Bastarda’s style and unique character.
In a short time, the Trio developed its own musical language, which became a tool for processing and composing new music, drawing inspiration from many intriguing sources – from medieval and Renaissance polyphony, through 19th-century Hasidic Niguns, to traditional music from various corners of the world (Portugal, Poland, Lithuania, Belarus). These diverse genres and cultural texts become for Bastarda only a starting point for their own compositions and improvisations, the early baroque alla bastarda method is used in a completely new context. In this way, the musical traditions of the past are smoothly transformed into an original, very personal and thoroughly contemporary artistic statement.
