The Space of an Image: “Renia Spiegel’s Diary” (PL/EN)

We would like to invite you to a screening of a unique film based on the diary of Renia Spiegel and a meeting with the film makers. This film metaphorically describes Renia’s life story, using the original and unusual combination of animation and live-action. The eight short episode series was put together by a team of brilliant creators as part of a cooperation between the Galicia Jewish Museum and the Education and Art Foundation, made possible by the generous support of the US Consulate General in Kraków. Each episode depicts an part of Renia’s dramatic story set against the backdrop of the Second World War and the Holocaust.

Each episode also carries a universal message focusing on human values: empathy, human rights, respect, and tolerance. The project also depicts dangers posed to these values by xenophobia, exclusion and persecution. All eight episodes can be found on the Galicia Jewish Museum’s YouTube channel and on social media. During this event, the entire film will be screened.
