Western Correspondents in Poland of the Solidarity and Martial Law Era (PL)

30.06.2024 - 15:00 / Galicia Jewish Museum, ul. Dajwór 18

Chris Schwarz, the British photographer and founder of the Galicia Jewish Museum, visited Poland over 4 decades ago in 1981, when Poland was experiencing the first revolution by the Solidarity movement. The new exhibition of photographs by Chris Schwarz depicts the revolutionary feelings of these times, as well as the ongoing the political and economical crises. What did Poland seem to be like in the eyes of foreign correspondents in the 1980s?

We will find the answer to this question during a meeting with Krzysztof Bobiński, who, at the time, was a correspondent of the London-based “Financial Times”.
The meeting will be led by Jacek Stawiski.
