As was the case last year, the preparation and implementation of 33rd JCF is supported by long-term volunteers: Lucie from France and Sasha from Israel.
They’ve been with us since the beginning of April. During that time, they learned about how we work every day, took part in the preparation of the programme, promotion and a special programme for the international group of volunteers who came to Krakow last week. Why did Lucie and Sasha decide to spend 4 months in Krakow at the Jewish Culture Festival? Here’s what they themselves say about it:
I’m Lucie, a young French woman aged 22 who wants to discover a new culture, a new country and the events industry. All of this, combined with a desire to be useful and to challenge myself, made applying for this voluntary service an obvious choice.
My name is Alexandra and I’m long-term volunteer at JCF. I’m here from the beginning of April and the closer the festival is the more excited I get. We already meet the rest of the volunteers and I am very glad to meet these people. We are all from different countries with different cultures, but we are united by one goal. This is a great way to network and to make new friends.
Lucie is in charge of a special volunteer project, during which Machers will prepare audiobooks depicting Jewish legends of Kazimierz in different languages. Guests and visitors coming to Kazimierz will be able to download them free of charge from our website and explore Kazimierz along unobvious paths.
Sasha together with Michalina – our social media person – will share with you on social media volunteers and FKŻ information about what our Machers are doing and what their work looks like in the preparation of the upcoming 33. Festival of Jewish Culture.
As you will see at the festival young people wearing T-shirts with the inscription Macher – smile at them warmly, because they decided to spend a month of their lives in Krakow so that you can have a good and safe time getting to know the contemporary Jewish culture.
