The Jewish Culture Festival presents contemporary Jewish culture and everything that is important and contemporary in it. For Israelis, the tragedy of October 7 is not only a turning point, but also a traumatic experience. For Jewish artists – it has become a point of reference in their creativity. The programme of this year’s edition could not miss events related to the tragedy in southern Israel.

OCTOBER SEVENTH EXHIBITION
The exhibition, prepared by the ANU Museum in Tel Aviv, presents the artistic, multimedia response of Israeli artists to the tragedy of October 7: graphics, paintings, film, music – various means of expression, experiences, emotions of artists from southern Israel, but not only.

INAUGURATIONAL CONCERT
Maya Belsitzman, Matan Ephrat & Cracow Golden Quintet
The opening concert of this year’s festival is held with the intention of releasing the Israeli hostages still in the Gaza Strip. We express this intention not only with words, but also with a symbol – the yellow chair that will appear at this concert and at all other festival events symbolizes the waiting for them – held captive for more than 260 days.

SUPERNOVA – screening of documentary film

A moving and terrifying documentary edited mainly from mobile phone recordings of the participants of the SuperNova festival during the assassination and escape from Palestinian terrorists.

JEWISH REFUGEES FROM ARAB COUNTRIES – A LECTURE BY BEN-DROR YEMINI
A lecture about a little-known fact in the history of the Middle East – the emigration of Jews from Muslim countries, caused by Islamic radicalization to Israel – the home of all Jews.

THE SWIMMER – screening of a film
dir. Adam Kalderon
Adam Kalderon was born and raised in the kibbutz Be’eri – a place that was virtually wiped out by Palestinian terrorists. Adam dedicates screenings of his film to friends and relatives from his family kibbutz.

DJ PARTY: DJ Gondi
After October 7, many DJ events were held in Israel, which were a tribute to the DJs and fans who died at the festival site in the Negev Desert. DJ Gondi – a young DJ from Jerusalem will play in Cracow’s Alchemy DJset as a tribute to her friends, who were also on SuperNova.
